The Vision
The vision of the Sunny Day Activity Center is to further enhance and expand the ministry of Camp Cowen to be a place “where people meet Jesus and grow as His disciples in a community of faith.”
This started with a dream of Rob Ely and the Camp Cowen Board in 2015 to provide the much-needed space to enhance the ministry of camp. This vision has been embraced by the generous donations of many that bring us to where we are today!
The Purpose
Building the Sunny Day Activity Center helps meet the following purpose:
- It provides a space for kids during those rainy days that seem to regularly accompany every camp.
- It provides a much needed space for large events, such as Family Camp, where there needs to be separate spaces for the various age groups.
- It gives us the opportunity to host two camps simultaneously when needed.
- It allows us to offer year-round events with a larger heated and air-conditioned venue.
- It expands the ways we can engage the local community.
The Plan
A groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 4, 2024, and construction has begun. Construction will continue through the spring and take a break during the summer camping season. Once the last camp concludes, construction will recommence and conclude by November.

- Gym Exterior Masonry Walls 8’ – $50,000
- Sports Equipment – $22,000
- Sports Flooring for Gym – $87,500
- Tile Flooring for Entrance & Restrooms – $8,000
- Carpet for Classroom – $2,500
- Paving the entry road and parking lot
